  11. After reading a Laura Frantz novel I love setting down to type up a review because I don t have to watch my words Often times, especially this past summer, the books I have been reading haven t been the best and it s hard to say what I liked about the story if anything at all while still trying to be respectful and mindful of the hard work that the author has put into the story I believe I can safely say I don t think I ll ever have to worry about writing a negative review for this author Actual [...]

  14. I saw this book recommended by Becky Wade as a book she tells everyone to read I love Becky s writing, so I was intrigued to see what she loves reading I was not disappointed This story is exactly what I love in a romance slow, budding romance that turns into fierce love I appreciate that it wasn t rushed, yet didn t feel like it was dragging out I wanted it to continue Other reviews I ve read describe it as heart wrenching a true descriptor if ever there was one When things were going well half [...]

  15. This was heart wrenching and rather depressing It was engagingly written, but I had a hard time enjoying it The h was so weak, the villains were one dimensional, the plan between the MCs was so idiotic, and the situation that drove the MCs apart was impossible And not in a I m so curious how it s all going to work out way, but rather an oh, come on Seriously I do have to mention that the H did somewhat redeem himself in the end He stayed true to the h during their separation view spoiler except [...]

  16. 2 main reasons for giving it only two stars The rape scene besides being bad enough, it seemed really out of place like the author threw it in to make it a climax and then could end the story Next was the dark feeling that hung over the entire book Maybe it was supposed to be suspenseful, but it really just made it dark, uncomfortable and not as fun to take in.Why 2 stars Because the main hero and heroine were wonderful characters, and the writing was okay.

  17. I would actually give this a 4 1 2 star rating it s just that good.I have now read all four of Laura Frantz s books And anyone who has read my reviews of them know that while I liked all of them and considered them good reads, Courting Morrow Little CML , her first novel has always been my favorite I just love the story of Morrow and Red Shirt So being an avid fan of Frantz, I pre ordered her latest book, Love s Reckoning to ensure delivery on my Kindle at midnight on the eve of it s release Dee [...]

GIVEAWAY and full review here overweightbookshelf 20Here is the problem with the Laura Frantz s books they make me want to play hookey for work, from life basically from reality until I read cover to cover Her books are not the usual sort that I can read for an hour or two and pick up the next day No, I become so committed and invested in the characters that it is inconceivable to pull myself away for longer than it takes to brew another cup of espresso Basically, Love s Reckonging was 400 pages [...]

  20. 23. When I pick up a novel by Laura Frantz, I settle in to savor the story, and Love s Reckoning is definitely a story to savor I enjoyed every minute that I spent reading it.Eden Lee is a wonderful character At times, I desperately wanted her to stand up for herself, to defend her self worth, but with a domineering father and sister and a mother that didn t defend her, it was easily understandable that she didn t The Lee home is a home of secrets and lies, and it was all Eden could do to rise above [...]

  24. With this first book in The Ballantyne Legacy Laura Frantz leaves a lasting impression on my heart A story about lies and deceit and how love can heal the deepest wounds.Eden and Elspeth Lee are sisters, but as different as night and day Elspeth is a frivolous girl who lives for her own pleasure, while Eden is quiet, gentle and caring. The day blacksmith apprentice Silas Ballantyne enters the Lee household, both sisters are attracted to him and soon jealousy and rivalry begins According to an old [...]

  25. If you re looking for a book with depth and texture this is the book for you As always, Laura Frantz delves into a time and place most of us know almost nothing about But she s done her homework and brings York County, Pennsylvania of 1784 to life The details draw you into every scene Her attention to detail and realism make it possible for readers to live the story along with her characters people you will love and hate.I fell in love with this tale of a Scotsman, a simple tradesman, who finds [...]

  26. This was an intense book From the first page until about Chapter 34 I honestly could read just a pages and then had to put it down After Chapter 34 the intensity slowed down a little and was an enjoyable read. What I loved most about this book was that the 2 main characters became attracted to each other through scripture They both had a desire to learn God s word and through that hunger they became closer to each other There was physical attraction but that was kept at a distance I truly believe [...]

  27. This was a really good historical Christian romance novel The characters are well drawn, and I really liked the way the main characters grew and changed throughout the novel In addition, I enjoyed how things were finally concluded at the end of the story line but still left questions about what might happen in the second book of the series I look forward to reading of this series and by this author, as this is the second novel by her that I ve both read and thoroughly liked.

  28. As much as I wanted to really like this book, it dragged on and on and on It took me days to finish and I skipped several parts I just truly couldn t get into it, especially after they met up again years later The characters had some depth to them, even though it was confusing why they acted the way they did, especially the older sister and father But it seems to tie together in the end I just wished it hadn t taken so long of a story to get there.

  29. The story was very interesting and I enjoyed the characters, however if just got awkward and by awkward I mean it did not make sense the route the author took the characters and honestly the last several chapters just pained me to read, I did not think it fit with the rest of the story well In chapter 34 the author jumps 6 years and takes practically the rest of the book to explain what happened.
