The best Kindle Shakespeare, Sound and Screen Disclosure: I contributed one of the essays to this book. I do not count it when making my evaluation. This is a very strong collection of articles mostly on the subject of screen Shakespeare. I have some philosophical/theoretical problems with a few of the essays, as those writers probably do with mine, but can recognize the strength of their work within their theoretical preferences. So much for the negative. Many of the articles are wonderful: Russell Jackson’s on Maurice Evans’s television RICHARD II, Patricia Lennonx’s on AN AGE OF KINGS, and Olwen Terris’s on BBC television Shakespeare productions being those that intersected first rate scholarship, writing, and my own interests. All the essays are worth a look, and may are very strong work. The reviews in the end are very useful. This is really a book for Shakespeare scholars, or those who what to be, but it is a first rate addition to the SHAKESPEARE SURVEY series and first rate scholarship on Shakespeare film and audio, with a few other non-thematic highlights as well.
